Starting this September, Forgotten Bird of Paradise will be screened on Australia’s National Indigenous Television (NITV), marking an important step in bringing the film to wider audiences across the country.
The documentary will be broadcast a total of 40 times over the next three years, offering repeated opportunities for viewers to engage with the story. NITV is the only channel in Australia entirely dedicated to reflecting the cultures, stories and perspectives of Indigenous people, and forms part of the SBS free-to-air network. As a platform committed to amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in mainstream media, it provides a particularly fitting home for Forgotten Bird of Paradise.
Screening the film within this context opens up space for meaningful connections between the experiences of Indigenous communities in Australia and those in West Papua. It also encourages dialogue around themes of identity, land, sovereignty and resistance, helping to place West Papua’s ongoing struggle within a broader global conversation.
This partnership represents a significant opportunity to expand awareness and deepen understanding, ensuring that the voices at the heart of the film continue to reach new audiences over the coming years.
