Best Short Documentary award at Davis International Film Festival

Forgotten Bird of Paradise has been awarded Best Short Documentary at the 2015 Davis International Film Festival in California, USA, standing out among more than 1,100 submissions from over 80 countries.

As part of the award, the film will be screened in Davis on Saturday 26th September at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall, 315 W. 14th St. Additional screenings are also scheduled in San Francisco on 22nd, 23rd and 24th September 2015, giving wider audiences the chance to experience the documentary on the big screen.

The festival’s Opening Ceremony reflected its international scope and cultural diversity, featuring a performance by renowned singer Gexuan Huang, traditional Chinese guqin music by virtuoso Weijun Zhang, and a series of dance and martial arts performances from artists across China and the United States. The Cheongsam Fashion Show troupe from the San Francisco Bay Area also presented a showcase of classic Qipao fashion.

The event was hosted by former Davis mayor Joe Krovoza alongside Nan Li, anchorwoman of Hunan Television Station. A number of high-profile guests attended, including Robert Alexander, CEO and President of the Motion Picture Hall of Fame, acclaimed Chinese director Baogang Zhao, and film actors Yong Yu and Zhicheng Ding, among others from both Hollywood and Beijing.
